Overview (Carlos) (10-19-2020)

Hello! I'm Carlos, 1/3 of the Dungeon Bard development team. For this game, my primary input was on creating the music, creating the basic layout for the level, and fleshing out some of the mechanics such as the control scheme and concept for the UI (although not creating the final version). The music was made to be reminiscent of games like Zelda: Link to the Past, and to exude a "dungeon" vibe using certain instruments that were common in these games. It is meant to develop a lot during its runtime, but still loop fairly easily and not last too long, and it also has a variety of different instrument parts. For the game mechanics, I fleshed out the control scheme of switching between items and crafting on paper, which were then implemented in code by Abhay. I also set up the basic template/design for the levels, which are based around small battle arenas separated by doors, as well as the first draft version of how the UI would look (further expanded upon and implemented by Abhay as well).

Our combination of crafting and combat was one that I think is really unique and fast-paced, and although we had to scale back much of the game from our original idea, the basic mechanics and ideas are still present and it's easy to see how they could be developed further into a full game.
